Two arrested after Monday morning Ashberry Drive burglary, robbery

Tuesday, May 5, 2015, 11:40 a.m. — Two men were arrested Monday for an early morning home invasion and armed robbery of an apartment at 122 Ashberry Drive in Bardstown.

Bardstown Police responded to a report of a robbery at 1:23 a.m. Monday. According to police, the victim police_badgeawoke to a man holding a gun to his head asking for drugs and money. The victim was ordered to lay face-down while the robber took his wallet containing cash. A television and an X-Box game console were also taken. The victim believed two men were involved in the robbery, and he provided a name to police of a possible suspect.

Two other people sleeping in the home were unaware of the break-in and robbery.

Police detectives located the suspect identified by the victim at a home on Purcell Avenue. In their search of the suspect’s residence, police located a .25 caliber handgun, a BB gun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia that tested positive for cocaine.

Detectives interviewed the three people at the home, Taylor M. Johnson, 23, of Bardstown, Martin Luther Keels, 23, of Clarksville, Ind., and Chelsey Lynn Sherrell, 21, of Charleston, Ind.

Johnson and Keels were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Keels also had an active arrest warrant.

Sherrell was charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine); possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and tampering with physical evidence. Sherrell also had an active arrest warrant from Jefferson County. All three subjects were lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
