Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 9:15 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded Wednesday morning to a home in the 100 block of West Muir for a report of smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters responded to the call at 8:28 a.m., and the first firefighter on scene observed smoke coming from the kitchen area of the home. The resident told firefighters the fire was out; fire crews confirmed the fire was out and determined the fire was caused by an electrical issue in a range hood. The American Red Cross was asked to respond to assist the resident. Firefighters were on the scene for about 40 minutes.
