LAVERN HALL GREENWELL

Lavern Hall Greenwell, 84, of Louisville, formerly New Haven, died peacefully Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Baptist Heath in Louisville surrounded by her family. She was of the Pentecostal faith, born and raised in Vine Grove by her late parents James Lawrence and Lorene Bird Horton.

She was preceded in death by one son, Everett Layton Hall; an infant sister, Faye Horton; and two brothers, Jessie Horton and Joshua Horton.

She is survived by four daughters; Wanda Beam (Don Johnson) of Bardstown, Rita DeMar (Buddy), Bonita Newton and Ella Sherrard, all of Louisville; one son, Roger Hall (Carol Williamson) of Evergreen Park, Ill.; one sister, Lila Mae Rueve-Kerns of Louisville; two brothers, the Rev. Marvin Horton, Bradenton Fla., and Charlie Horton (Jan) of Louisville; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Marvin Horton presiding.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015. A private burial will be held at Rhudes Creek Baptist Church cemetery at a later date.
