Obituary: Juanita H. Stivers, 95, Bloomfield

JUANITA H. STIVERS

Juanita H. Stivers, 95, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was the former Juanita Hays, born January 23, 1921, in Spencer County to the late Daniel Boone and Theresa Jacobs Hays Sr. She was a homemaker, former custodian at Bloomfield Post Office, a member of the Bloomfield Senior Citizens, and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Camp Branch.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Stivers; and two brothers, Daniel Hays Jr., and Robert Hays.

She is survived by five sons, Leo (Lucille Childs) Stivers of Cox’s Creek, Edward “Ed” (Mary) Stivers of Bardstown, Donnie (Betty) Stivers of Louisville, Billy (Jan) Stivers and Terry Stivers, both of Bloomfield; one brother, Raymond (Laverne) Hays of Bardstown; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at Campbells Chapel A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church in Bloomfield with the Rev. Hugh Roberts officiating. Burial is in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the church.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
