CAROL JEAN HERRON SIMPSON

Carol Jean Herron Simpson, 78, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1939, in Louisville. She was a retired substitute teacher for Bardstown City Schools. She was member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she was honored as Deacon Emeritus. She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and with Vacation Bible School. She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a Kentucky Colonel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ottie Herron; her mother, Myrtle Smith; three sisters, Wilma Kessler, Linda Mason Blaha and Sherry Davidson; and one grandson, John Kyle Hutchins.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert “Bobby” Simpson; four daughters, Cindy (John) Hutchins, Terri (Pat) Adams, Melinda “Peanut” (Kerry) Monin, and Sonya (Stephen) Boone all of Bardstown; one son, Robert “Robbie” (Shelley) Simpson of Maryville, Ill.; two sisters, Janice “Susie” Stinson and Earlene Smith both of Monticello; two brothers, Don Herron and John Wayne Smith, both of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, ,at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. John Powell officiating.

Visitation is noon-6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, and 9-10:15 a.m. Monday, March 20 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) building fund.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
