Sunday, June 2, 2017, 1 a.m. (Updated & corrected, June 3, 2 p.m.) — Three people died in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night on the Bluegrass Parkway.

According to a Kentucky State Police press release, at about 11:23 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the 18 mile marker in the westbound lanes for a vehicle that apparently left the parkway and struck a rock wall. Hugo Guerrero, 17, was driving a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria westbound with two passengers when for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle. It left the roadway and overturned.

Hugo Guerrero’s passengers — his 22-year-old brother, Daniel Guerrero and Hugo Guerrero’s classmate, 16-year-old Rylee Razon — died at the scene. Hugo Guerrero was ejected from the vehicle. He was treated by Nelson County EMS at the scene and transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was airlifted from Flaget by helicopter to University Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The parkway’s westbound lanes were closed for approximately five hours while KSP troopers reconstructed the accident. The accident remains under investigation.

In addition to KSP, the Bardstown Police Department, Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Bardstown Fire, and Nelson County Fire responded to the scene.
