Obituary: Norma Ruth ‘Ruthie’ Powell, 80, Guston

Norma Ruth “Ruthie” Powell, 80, of Guston, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at her residence. She was a member of Ekron Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ilene Dowell, and Mary Ledford; and three brothers, Forrest Morgan, Elwood Morgan, Harley Morgan.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Thomas J. “Sug” Powell of Guston; one daughter, Pamela Powell of Guston; four sons, Gary Powell of Guston, Tony Powell of Bardstown, Timothy Powell and Keith Powell, both of Louisville; one sister, Irma Jean Simmons; one brother, Curtis Morgan; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at Ekron Baptist Church in Ekron. Burial is in the Ekron Baptist Church Cemetery in Ekron.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Ekron Baptist Church in Ekron.

The Coffey & Chism Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
