Obituary: Anna Ruth Keene, 92, Bardstown

ANNA RUTH KEENE

Anna Ruth Keene, 92, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Windsor Gardens of Bardstown. She was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Bardstown to the late George Paul and Diana Bogie Nally Keene. She was a 1942 graduate of Bethlehem Academy and a 1944 graduate of St. Catherine College where she obtained an associate degree in business. She retired from Barton Brands Distillery after 42 years of service. She was a member of the Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and St. Joseph Parish.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Mary Josephine Keene; four brothers, Paul Keene, Thomas F. Keene, William Donald Keene and Francis Hill Keene;
and one nephew John Sidney Keene.

She is survived by seven nieces, Joanne (David) Kelleher, Diane (Bill) Nelson, Susan Christensen, Katherine (Win) Hill, Mary Josephine Moore, Carolyn (Patrick) Despeaux and Ann (Rob) Zimlich; four nephews, Thomas F. Keene Jr., James Paul Keene, the Rev. Mark Alan Keene and Paul William Keene; eight great-nieces; two great-nephews; and seven great-great nephews and nieces.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Keene and the Rev. Terry Bradshaw will con-celebrate.

Visitation is 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or Flaget Hospital Auxiliary.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
