Citizens Police Academy class set to begin Monday, Oct. 9

Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 — If you have ever wanted to look behind the scenes of what its like to work in law enforcement, don’t miss applying for the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office’s Citizens Police Academy.

The Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for its next Citizens Police Academy.
The classes begin Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 and will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Monday through Nov. 20th.

The academy offers participants hands-on experience and unique insights into the nature of law enforcement, and will include classroom training, equipment demonstrations, practical exercises, open discussion, multimedia presentations and an opportunity to ride-along with an on-duty officer.

Those interested in participating can contact Lt. Kaelen Matthews at the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, (502) 348-1870, or stop by the sheriff’s office at 210 Plaza Drive. Applications are available at the sheriff’s office. Completed applications can be returned directly to the sheriff’s office in person, by postal mail, or by fax, (502) 348-1874.
