Obituary: Randal Thomas Ballard, 79, Nelsonville

Randel Thomas Ballard, 79, of Nelsonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. He was born July 21, 1938, the son of Estel and Earnett Mattingly Ballard. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He retired after several years as a computer programmer with Fort Knox National Bank in Fort Knox.

He was preceded in death by one son, Glenn T. Ballard; one sister, Judy Ballard; and one brother, Stanley Ballard.

He is survivedc by his wife, Suetta Jones Ballard of Nelsonville; three daughters, Karen (Steve) Heintz of Nelsonville, Sharon (Harold) Wimsett of New Haven, and Annette (Steve) Pavey of Bardstown; one son, David “Duck” (Pat) Ballard of Nelsonville; one sister, Sue (Johnny) Blair of New Hope; two brothers, Mike (Alice) Ballard of Louisville and Dan (Mary Ellen) Ballard of Bardstown; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in the Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in Holy Cross.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, and after 8 a.m. Friday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven with a prayer service 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
