Woman seriously injured Saturday in Cox’s Creek structure fire

Saturday, March, 3, 2018 — One person suffered serious burns Saturday afternoon in a Cox’s Creek outbuilding fire.

At about 2:10 p.m., the Nelson County Fire Department, the sheriff’s office and Nelson County EMS were dispatched to a home in the 5000 block of Louisville Road north of the Cox’s Creek Elementary School for an outbuilding and vehicle on fire.

By the time crews arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames and first-responders located the victim outside the structure. The Bardstown Fire Department assisted the county fire department in fighting the fire. The victim, described as a woman in her early 70s, was treated at the scene by EMS before being transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was later flown from Flaget to University Hospital.

First-responders were at the scene for more than 90 minutes.
