Head-on crash at Granite Drive shuts down KY 245 traffic Thursday evening

Thursday, March 22, 2018 — A woman in her 60s suffered substantial injuries Thursday evening in a head-on collision on KY 245 in front of Buffalo Wings and Rings.

Nelson County EMS, Bardstown Fire and law enforcement were dispatched to the scene of the crash at about 7:16 p.m. According to first-responders, the injured woman was partly ejected in crash. Traffic on KY 245 was shut down between Bloomfield Road and Walmart while the crash was being investigated. Firefighters had to assist getting the woman freed from her vehicle. She was treated at the scene by EMS, then transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital’s helipad where EMS crews met with a medical helicopter. The victim was flown from Flaget directly to University Hospital with possible injuries to her right ankle, left arm and shoulder.

New Haven Police Chief K.C. Holbert responded to assist with reconstructing the accident.

As of 8:19 p.m., Thursday evening, traffic on KY 245 remains shut down. If you plan to travel in the area, be aware of possible detours.
