Friday, April 20, 2018 — The Bardstown Board of Education met briefly at noon Friday, and in a unanimous vote, selected Dr. Ryan Clark as the district’s next superintendent.

DR. RYAN CLARK

In a press release, Clark said he plans to continue to build the district’s history of academic achievement.

”It is a great honor to be named Bardstown City School’s ninth superintendent. It is very special to me to be taking on such an important role in a district that I hold so dear. I look forward to working together with our outstanding teachers and staff to continue providing the learning opportunities for our students that our community has come to expect. I am humbled by the board of education putting their faith in me to carry on our proud 110-year tradition.”

Preceding his motion to name Clark superintendent, board member Andy Stone read a statement.

“We have completed the interview process … with input from stakeholders and following our identified process. We have found the most qualified and best fit to serve as our superintendent.”

Board member Jim Roby participated in the meeting by telephone.

School board chair Jennifer Shrewsbury said the decision-making process for naming the new superintendent was a challenge for the board.

“We feel that Dr. Clark has the right combination of focus on student achievement, vast district knowledge, and shared core values to lead the district into the future,” Shrewsbury said.

“Dr. Clark’s demonstrated strength as a collaborative leader and focus on building positive relationships will only build on the great work of previous superintendents. The board of education believes that Dr. Clark will be a visionary leader and is a great match for our staff, students, and community.”

On the board’s behalf, she expressed her appreciation for the community’s participation in the process, especially the work of the screening committee, which narrowed the list of candidates to four.

Clark currently serves as principal of Bardstown Middle School, and will step into the superintendent’s position effective July 1, 2018.
