Five injured Friday night in rollover crash on KY 245 at Keystone Avenue

Friday, May 4, 2018, 9:46 p.m. (updated 9:59 p.m.) — Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and four-wheel-drive truck Friday night at the intersection of East John Rowan and Keystone Avenue. Nelson County EMS, the Bardstown Fire Department and Bardstown Police responded to the accident at about 8:55 p.m.

Six people were initially reported injured in the crash. The pickup truck involved in the crash rolled over, and firefighters had to use rescue tools to help victims out of their damaged vehicle. Two EMS squads treated five victims at the scene, two of which suffered serious injuries and were transported from the scene directly to University Hospital and Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for treatment. Three other victims, two 16-year-old girls and one 17-year-old girl, were transported from the accident scene to Flaget Memorial Hospital with complaints of neck, back and leg pain.

An ambulance from Washington County EMS responded to the crash scene to assist with other crash victims who refused treatment and transport to Flaget Hospital.

The accident snarled traffic on East John Rowan for about an hour.
