Three injured Monday afternoon in head-on crash on US31E north of KY 509

Tuesday, May 15, 2018 (Edited Thursday, May 17, 2018, 9:23 a.m.) –– Three people were injured Monday afternoon in a head-on collision on Louisville Road north of the KY 509 intersection and south of the Wolf Bridge.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, at about 3:55 p.m., Michael Collins, 40, was driving south on US31E in a 1992 Mazda pickup truck with a passenger, Lauren Miller, 32, of Shepherdsville when they collided head-on with a 1998 Jaguar operated by Lola Roy, 60, of Mount Washington.

Collins and Roy were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters with the Nelson County Fire Department.

Collins was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS, then flown from the scene by helicopter to University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Roy and Miller were also treated at the scene by EMS and then transported to University Hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation and criminal charges may be pending.
