Local attorneys support Judge Debra Lambert for Supreme Court seat

To the Editor:

As attorneys, we represent diverse political views, practice areas and experience. But our judicial races are non-partisan for a reason – it is far more important to elect judges who have the expertise, knowledge, experience, and ethics to make important decisions without regard to divisive, partisan politics.

We have a candidate who embodies all of those qualities in Judge Debra Lambert. As a Court of Appeals Judge, she has proven herself to be a fair-minded, thorough, and competent jurist. She has written outstanding, well-reasoned opinions on diverse legal topics – proving that she has the breadth of knowledge required of an appellate judge. In oral arguments, she asks insightful questions that get right to the heart of the matter before the court.

When representing clients before the Supreme Court, we want to ensure that the justices hearing our cases have a strong grasp of the law and will approach each case with an open mind and the ability to fairly apply the law to the facts of the case. Judge Lambert will do exactly that and we whole-heartedly endorse her for the Second District Supreme Court Seat.

Outside the courtroom, Judge Lambert is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She has made a point of getting to know our community and has regularly attended local community events and meetings. As a Family Court Judge in Pulaski, Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties, she established the area’s first truancy diversion program and regularly met with at-risk children in local schools.

After establishing the first drug court in those counties, she was inducted into the National Drug Court Hall of Fame in 2002. She has been extensively involved in suicide prevention efforts, providing trainings around the state on this topic. In short, Judge Lambert will make an excellent Supreme Court Justice and we hope you will support her on May 22nd.
