County firefighters respond Monday night for Murray’s Run Road house fire

Tuesday, May 22, 2018 — A home in the 800 block of Murray’s Run Road was heavily damaged by a fire that was reported late Monday night.

At about 10 p.m., the Nelson County Fire Department was dispatched to Murray’s Run Road for a reported structure fire in the home’s attic that was apparently caused by a lightning strike. The first firefighter to arrive reported heavy smoke visible from the roof area of the home. Firefighters battled the fire and reported it under control by about 11 p.m.

Firefighters remained on the scene until about 12:45 a.m.
