Bardstown Memorial Day observance set for 11 a.m. Monday at city cemetery

Thursday, May 24, 2018 — The annual Memorial Day observance at the Bardstown City Cemetery is set for 11 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the gazebo next to the flag pole.

Retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Kenny Fogle will serve as emcee. Following a welcome message from Mayor Dick Heaton, former state Rep. Jodie Haydon will be the featured speaker.

A list of veterans who have passed since last Memorial Day will be read by the chaplains of the local American Legion posts prior to the post commanders jointly laying a wreath to honor veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.

American Legion Post 167 will host refreshments after the event at the post on Downs Lane. In the event of inclement weather, the observance will take place at Post 167.

The observance is supported by the local American Legion posts 121, 167 and 42.
