Local historical groups plan to mark patriot’s grave Sunday in Fairfield

Friday, June 8, 2018 — The Thomas Nelson Jr. Society of the Children of the American Revolution and the Gov. Issac Shelby Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will host a joint grave marking of Patriot Clement Gardiner at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Fairfield.

Gardiner donated part of his land grant for the original building of St. Michael’s Church and the cemetery. Before the church was built, the newly arrived parishioners met in his house. Everyone is invited to the ceremony. Please bring a chair.
