Obituary: Mae Frances Downs, 84, Bardstown

Mae Frances Downs, 84, of Bardstown, died Friday, June 8, 2018, at her residence. She was born May 24, 1934, in Sweetwater, Tenn. She was a retired cook for the Talbott Tavern, Kurtz Restaurant, and Signature at Colonial Health & Rehab, and was a member of Bardstown First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Dorock” Downs; her parents; and a daughter, Donetta “Don Don” Downs.

She is survived by her daughter, Demita Downs of Bardstown; three sons, Dale (Lily) Downs of Maryland, Dennis “Dinkie” (Josie) Downs and Warren (Terry Spalding) Downs, both of Bardstown; two sons she raised, Derrick Downs and Darius Downs; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at the Bardstown First Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
