Obituary: Mary Rita Brey Gibson, 89

Mary Rita Brey Gibson, 89, died Thursday, June 14, 2018. She was the former Magnolia correspondent for the LaRue County Herald News. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Nalley Brey; three sisters, Doris Clan, Beulah Devers and Elizabeth Greenwell; and two brothers, John E. Brey and Lewis Brey.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth F. Gibson; three daughters, Eugenia (Billy Dale) Butler of Sonora, Venita (Bruce) Hawkins of Mount Sherman and Viola (Walter) Hawkins of Summersville; three sons, Kenneth Ray (Shelia) Gibson and Joey (Karen) Gibson, both of Campbellsville and Dorman (Debbie) Gibson of Tennessee; two sisters, Fredaline Clark of Bardstown and Nancy Devers of Howardstown; two brothers, Kenneth A. (Carol) Brey of Shepherdsville and Ramey (Jackie) Brey of Hodgenville; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, with the Rev. Pablo Hernandez officiating. Burial is in Mount Tabor Church Cemetery near Buffalo.

Visitation is after 8 a.m. Saturday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

The Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville is in charge of arrangements.
