Local radio club operators will get “on-the-air” for national event Saturday

Tuesday, June 19, 2018 (site address added, June 21st) — On Saturday, June 23rd, the Nelson County Radio Club (NCRC) will participate in the American Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) annual Field Day demonstration of how amateur radio operators provide emergency radio communications from sites away from their normal radio station sites.

The radio club will operate Saturday from 2 – 10 p.m. at the On Saturday, 23 June, NCRC will operate from 2 to 10 p.m. at the East Kentucky Power Cooperative, 2310 New Haven Road, Bardstown, located on the west side of US 31E south of the Bluegrass Parkway and north of the Nelson County Fairgrounds. Set up will begin at 10 a.m.; operating begins at 2 p.m. and will continue to 9 p.m.

The national Field Day exercise is the nation’s largest demonstration of amateur radio capability. Amateur radio operators are invited to come to the NCRC site and operate with NCRC members. Anyone interested in amateur radio is also invited to visit the site to learn more about amateur radio. Circumstances permitting, every effort will be made to give visitors an opportunity to get “on the air” with NCRC operators.
