Obituary: Donald L. Fletcher, 81, Bardstown

DONALD L. FLETCHER

Donald L. Fletcher, 81, of Bardstown, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at University of Louisville Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 12, 1937, in Paducah. He was a retired detective with Kentucky State Police and Bardstown City School System Transportation Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a former district commissioner and assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America. He coached Little League baseball and softball, and served as assistant coach of Bardstown Tigers Baseball Team. He was past president of Bardstown High School Band Boosters, and was a deacon and member of Bardstown Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cary and Clara Fletcher; three sisters, Leona Gibson, Mildred Hodges, and Emogene Layton; and four brothers, Alvin Fletcher, Charles Fletcher, James Fletcher and Glenn Fletcher;

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Fletcher; three children, Lynn (Donald) Howard of Bardstown, David (Marian) Fletcher of Medina, Ohio, and Cary (Carolee) Fletcher of Wyckoff, N.J.; six grandchildren, Adam Wright, Katie (Jonathan) Mattingly, Logan Fletcher, Anna Fletcher, Jack Fletcher, and Sam Fletcher; one great-grandson, Ethan Mattingly; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 1:30 pm Monday, June 25, 2018, at Bardstown Baptist Church with Dr. Randal Pollock and Rev. Stan Lowerey officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 1-6 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, and 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Bardstown Baptist Church or Barktown Rescue or Children’s Sunrise Services.
