Wednesday, July 25, 2018 — The former superintendent of Bardstown City Schools has been appointed to be the chief financial and facilities officer at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

“Brent brings a wealth of experience and expertise to ECTC in this important role,” said Dr. Juston Pate, ECTC president.

“The CFFO manages a broad range of services, including business services, facilities, capital projects, information technology, safety and more,” Pate added.

“We are confident that under his leadership in these key areas, the college will continue to move forward with priorities and initiatives that serve our students and communities so well. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”

Holsclaw earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Berea College and his Master’s degree and Rank I in School Administration from Western Kentucky University. He began his educational career as a teacher and coach and later served as a high school counselor, assistant principal and served in the capacity of principal at both the middle and high school level.

In 2000, Holsclaw was chosen to be the first principal at John Hardin High School. He was faced with the unique task of hiring every staff member and determining the school’s direction for success. After creating a tradition of excellence at John Hardin, he was selected to be the Superintendent of Bardstown Independent in 2005.

He negotiated the purchase of 71 acres for the district’s future growth, began a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Academy on the district’s campus, created an on-campus health clinic for students, expanded the district’s daycare program, led the district through AdvancED accreditation (the district’s scores were above the national averages) and led the district to a Distinguished rating from the Kentucky Department of Education.

Holsclaw is a board member at the Guthrie Opportunity Center – an organization working to improve the quality of life for adults with disabilities. He is active in his church and serves on Habitat for Humanity housing teams. He is past-president of the Central Kentucky Educational Cooperative, member of the Kentucky School Board Association, Kentucky Association of School Administrators and Kentucky Association of School Superintendents.

“The college is a special place to me and I am honored to be selected for this position. I look forward to putting my experience to work with our outstanding staff and community members to make our college the provider of choice for educational needs and workforce development in this region,” Holsclaw said.

Holsclaw will be recognized in September by Hardin County Schools in the Class of 2018 Distinguished Alumni.
