Buckman files for city council seat; filing deadline two weeks away

Tuesday, July 31, 2018 — The last incumbent Bardstown City Council member filed Tuesday as a candidate to keep his council seat in the upcoming November General Election.

West Broadway Avenue resident Joe Buckman, 67, filed his candidate paperwork Tuesday to run for a second consecutive two-year term on the city council. Buckman previously served as a councilman several years ago before he ran for and won a council seat in 2016.

To date, eight candidates have filed for the six council seats, including the five incumbents:

– Betty Kelley Hart
– Franklin Hibbs IV
– Bill Sheckles (incumbent)
– David Dones (incumbent)
– Nicholas Shanks
– R. Coach Roe Williams (incumbent)
– Kecia Copeland (incumbent)
– Joe Buckman (incumbent)

City mayor and council/commission races are non-partisan.

FILING DEADLINE TWO WEEKS AWAY. The deadline to file for local office — mayor, councilman/city commissioner, school board member, etc. — is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.
