Obituary: Doc Lamkin, 89, Raywick

Doc Lamkin, 89, of Raywick, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was born May 17, 1929, in Marion County. He was a retired farmer and member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Whitlock Lamkin; one daughter, Mary Marcella Lamkin; his parents, William Joseph and Lucy Ella Bartley Lamkin; three sisters, Marge Clark, Betty French and Irene Morris; and five brothers, Bill Lamkin, Jack Lamkin, T. C. Lamkin , Mike Lamkin and Raymond Lamkin.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Hayden (Lester), Carol Garrett (Matthew) and Barbara Gordon (Kevin), all of Lebanon; six sons, David Lamkin Sr. (Patricia), Joe Lamkin (Barbara), Phillip Lamkin (Nancy Leigh), Jackie Lamkin (Tammy), Michael Lamkin (Becki) and Danny Lamkin (Heather), all of Raywick; one brother, Andy Lamkin (Betty Jo) of Louisville; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick, with the Rev. David W. Naylor officiating. Burial is in the
church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

His sons will serve as pallbearers. His grandchildren, Steven Hayden, Christian Forbis, David Lamkin Jr., Travis Lamkin, Nick Lamkin, Brandon Lamkin, Lance Abell, Morgan Lamkin, Brooke Gordon, Jessica McClure and Heather Lamkin will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
