Candidates file for office as 4 p.m. Tuesday deadline rapidly approaches

Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 — With the filing deadline for the November General Election just two business days away, additional candidates for office filed their candidacy paperwork at the office of Elaine Filiatreau, Nelson County clerk this past week.

FAIRFIELD. On Tuesday, Paul Kiener, 69, filed to keep his seat on on the Fairfield City Commission. Kiener currently serves as one of five commissioners in Fairfield. No other candidates have yet filed for seats on the commission or Fairfield mayor.

BLOOMFIELD. On Wednesday, Janet Denise Graves, 57, filed as a candidate to keep her seat on the Bloomfield City Council. The Depot Street resident is the first candidate so far who has filed for one of the five seats on the Bloomfield city council.

NEW HAVEN. Karl Lusk, 72, filed Friday as a candidate for New Haven City Commission. The Ridgeview Drive resident was appointed to the city commission in August 2017 to fill the empty commissioner seat created when Tessie Cecil moved from commissioner to mayor.

Lusk is the pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Bardstown and a member of the Nelson County Chaplain Response Team.

DEADLINE TUESDAY. The deadline to file a nominating petition for the November election is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.

The last day to register to vote in the November election is Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.
