Obituary: Mary Juanita Roby, 79, Bardstown

Mary Juanita Roby, 79, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Landmark of Bardstown. She was born Feb. 5, 1939, to the late Floyd and Viola Willett Vittitow. She was a former employee of Jim Beam Distillery, secretary of their AFL-CIO and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a kidney donor to her brother and a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild Rod Roby; one sister, Oneida Davilla; and nine brothers, Albert Vittitow, Earnest Vittitow, Pat Vittitow, Bobby Vittitow, Jack Vittitow, Melvin Vittitow, Raymond Vittitow, Harold Vittitow and Junior Vittitow;

She is survived by four daughters, Joan (Jack) Welch, Jan (Dennis) Tronzo, and Bobbi (M.T.) Harned, all of Bardstown, and Jackie (Jeff) Hansford of Indiana; two sons, Dickie (Clarissa) Roby and Brock Roby, both of Bardstown; three sisters, Louise (Eddie) Nalley and Frankie Vittitow, both of Bardstown, and Joann (Mike) Danlessandro of New Jersey; two brothers, Louis Vittitow of Bardstown and Billy (Dreama) Vittitow of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Joseph Elementary, Bethlehem High School, the Susan G. Komen Cancer Research or the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
