Obituary: Rosetta Dodson, 78, Bardstown

Rosetta Dodson, 78, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Hosparus InPatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born Aug. 22, 1940, in Springfield to the late Arthur C. and Mary Spurley Reed. She was a former employee of Nu-Kote International and owner of Rosie’s Catering and a retired employee of the Bardstown City School System. She was a member of St. John AME Zion Methodist Church and in 2016 received the Concerned Parent Community Service Award.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Anderson; and two brothers, Matthew Reed and Nelson Reed.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Dodson; two daughters, Shonna L. (Joey) Sheckles and Kimberly (Kenny) Linton, both of Bardstown; three sisters, Elizabeth (Charles) Davidson of Hinesville, Ga., Carlene (Bobby) Phillips and Sharon (Charles) Brewer, both of Bardstown; two brothers, Arthur (Kathy) Reed of Bardstown and William Reed of Homestead, Fla.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.

The funeral is noon Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at the Bardstown First Baptist Church with the Rev. George Woodruff and Rev. Roscoe Linton officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home and 10-noon Saturday at the Bardstown First Baptist Church.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
