Truck driver indicted for causing deaths of parents, child in fatal 2017 BG crash

Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018 — The driver of a semi tractor-trailer involved in a triple fatality Bluegrass Parkway crash last May was indicted Wednesday on charges of reckless homicide and wanton endangerment.

According to the indictment, on May 11, 2017, Richie B. Warren, 41, of Springfield, Tenn., allegedly drove his tractor-trailer rig in a reckless manner, leading to the deaths of Delmer and Delores Odell and their child, Keren Odell.

According to news reports, the accident happened about 11:21 a.m. on May 11, 2017, when Warren’s eastbound tractor-trailer rig crossed the median and struck the Odell’s vehicle head-on in the westbound lanes. The three family members died a the scene.

A second child who was in the Odell’s vehicle survived the crash. She was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS and then transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital to meet a medical helicopter and flown to a Louisville hospital for additional treatment.

Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions. Warren’s arraignment was set for Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018.
