US31E closed at Spencer County line for 30 days for approach repairs

NC GAZETTE / WBRT RADIO
STAFF REPORT

Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 — Beginning today, US31E, Louisville Road, is closed at the Nelson-Spencer county line for repairs on the approaches of each side of the bridge located at the county line.

According to the Department of Transportation, significant settling occurred earlier this year on each side of the bridge that is part of the newly opened section of US31E. The settling was repaired temporarily.

Work to make permanent repairs begins today. Message boards are located on each side of the bridge to advise motorists of the closure and the detour around the bridge, which will route traffic onto KY 523, the old US31E until the repairs are completed.

The repairs should be completed within 30 days.
