Local man facing drug-related charges after single-vehicle Nelsonville Road crash

Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 — A Bardstown man involved in a single-vehicle crash was arrested early Thursday morning when drugs were found on him and in his vehicle.

At 11:26 p.m. Wednesday, a single-vehicle accident with possible injuries was reported near the Bluegrass Parkway overpass on Nelsonville Road. Deputies Brandon Bryan and Levi Preston of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded and found a 2001 Ford Taurus off the roadway with its operator, Joseph Bryan Linton, 24, apparently unconscious in the vehicle.

Deputies opened the passenger side door to access Linton, he awoke and officer saw a handgun under his leg with his hand on the weapon. Linton exited the vehicle without incident.

A sheriff’s office K-9 was deployed and indicated that drugs were inside the vehicle. A search by deputies turned up marijuana, a glass pipe with white residue and digital scales. When officers searched Linton, they found two baggies containing what was believed to be methamphetamine.

Linton was taken in to custody and arrested on charges of possession controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine); trafficking in controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine); trafficking in marijuana; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; carrying a concealed weapon; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc.; no insurance; and no seat belt. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
