Driver dies Wednesday night from injuries sustained after his car strikes tree

Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 — The driver of a vehicle died from injuries sustained Wednesday night when the car he was operating struck a tree in the area of the 400 block of Stoner Road.

Nelson County Fire & Rescue, Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for the single-vehicle crash at about 10:08 p.m.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Nelson County Coroner. The driver’s three passengers were also injured. One of the passengers, described as an 18-year-old male who was a rear seat passenger, was treated at the scene by EMS for leg and head injuries and then flown by medical helicopter directly to University Hospital.

The other two passengers were treated by EMS at the scene and transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital.

The identity of the victim and status of the injured has not yet been released.
