One dead, two injured in two-vehicle crash Thursday at US31E county line bridge

Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 — One person died Thursday evening and two were injured in a two vehicle crash at the Bullitt County line on US31E north in the High Grove area.

At about 6:18 p.m., the Nelson County Fire Department, Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for an injury accident on the county line bridge on the new portion of Louisville Road with one of the vehicles on fire. County firefighters were assisted by firefighters from the Bardstown Fire Department and Bullitt County.

The person in the vehicle that was on fire was pronounced dead at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner. A male adult and a male juvenile suffered minor injuries. They were treated by EMS at the scene and then transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital.

The state highway department was asked to bring sand on the bridge due to vehicle fluids and icy spots on the bridge. The roadway was closed while the accident was being investigated.
