Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 — The Bardstown Community Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Anne Thompson Lusk, will present its winter concert, “Musical Gifts for the Holidays,” at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018. The performance will be at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 211 N. Third St., in Bardstown.

Highlights of the concert features selections from Humperdinck’s opera, Hansel and Gretel and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. The opening number will be the prelude to the fourth and final movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Additional selections include compositions by Handel, Leroy Anderson, and a new twist on Pachelbel’s Canon. Those attending will also participate in a sing-along of holiday tunes and Christmas carols.

According to Lusk, the 2018-19 season is a milestone for the orchestra, which begin its fifth season in late fall. Recent performances include the Gallery on the Square, the annual holiday concert at Windsor Gardens, and participated in Light Up Bardstown.

The Orchestra is an all-volunteer, non-professional gathering of area musicians who strive to share their passion for music with area residents.

There is no admission charge. Donations are welcome and will be used for acquiring music for future performances.
