Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 — The Republican Party of Nelson County this week elected Don Thrasher, the former candidate for Nelson County Judge Executive, to serve as the party’s chairman.

Thrasher replaces Robert Augustine, who resigned his role as chairman effective Nov. 30, 2018. The county executive committee met on Wednesday and elected Thrasher chairman. Thrasher’s term will run through 2021.

“I would like to thank Robert Augustine for his work as chair and to all of the people
who have entrusted me with the stewardship of the local party,” Thrasher said in a press release. “As chairman, I want to work to grow the local party by uniting conservatives and bring awareness that the Nelson County GOP represents the conservative values of Nelson County families.”

Alan Brown Jr. served as acting chairman following Augustine’s resignation, and he will return to his role of vice-chairman.

Thrasher was the founder of Thrasher Beverage Corp., the predecessor of California-based Zevia Soda.
