Pedestrian crossing West John Rowan dies Thursday night after struck by semi

Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 — A Bardstown man died Thursday night from injuries sustained with he was hit by a semi tractor-trailer while attempting to cross West John Rowan Boulevard.

According to a Bardstown Police Department press release,Millard Johnson, 83, was hit by a semi at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday night by a semi carrying auto parts on West John Rowan as Johnson attempted to cross the road near its with Padget Way.

Johnson apparently failed to yield the right-of-way to the oncoming tractor-trailer, which had the green light. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner.

The fatality was investigated by the Bardstown Police Department. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
