‘Technicolor Dreamcoat’ named second 2019 show at renovated amphitheater

Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 — Summer 2019 promises to be known as “The Summer of Color” when “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” takes the stage at the newly renovated J. Dan Talbott Amphitheatre at My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown.

The family-friendly, fast-paced musical features songs from the award-winning combination of Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show will play 10 performances between July 6 and Aug. 8, 2019. The performances are presented by Salt River Electric.

“Joseph is such a great show for us to produce this summer. It’s upbeat, it’s hilarious, it’s full of music of many different styles. The show features a large youth chorus, and large adult cast, colorful costumes and non-stop energy. It’s exactly the kind of party we need to celebrate the opening of the newly constructed stage!” Johnny Warren, executive artistic director, said in a press release.

LOCAL AUDITIONS. Local auditions for the upcoming summer season will take place on 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Bardstown High School for ages 13 and older. Appointments are strongly encouraged and can be made by emailing billyb@stephenfoster.com.

Youth auditions for ages 6-12 are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Bardstown High School. Audition materials will be available for youth auditions beginning Feb. 12, 2019.

Tickets for the 2019 productions — including “Dreamcoat” and “The Stephen Foster Story” go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019. Prices start at $21 for adults and $12 for children, plus taxes & fees.
