Boston Road armed robbery suspect apprehended by KSP in Elizabethtown

Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, 3 p.m. — The Kentucky State Police have arrested the man suspected of an armed robbery at a home in the 2000 block of Boston Road at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

The robbery — and a victim with a gunshot wound at that address — was reported just before 2 a.m., with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Nelson County EMS responding.
Witnesses were able to give officers a description of the assailant and the vehicle he was driving when he left the scene.
The gunshot victim was treated at the scene by EMS and then transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital.
Kentucky State Police Troopers at Post 4 in Elizabethtown were advised of the armed robbery and provided with descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle.
At about 4:23 a.m. Saturday, a Post 4 Trooper spotted a vehicle and driver matching the description at the 12 mile marker westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway. The suspect failed to stop when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. He led police on a high-speed pursuit at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Troopers successfully deployed tire deflation devices and deflated the right front tire. The suspect continued west on the BG and merged northbound on Interstate 65. The suspect exited I-65 at the 94 mile-marker onto Mulberry Avenue in Elizabethtown. He turned right and then drove into the parking lot of the Huddle House restaurant, striking the building and damaging it.
The suspect failed to follow officers commands, and an officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect in the leg.
The suspect, Justin Robert Hardin, 36, of Orange Beach, Ala., was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was arrested and faces charges that include speeding, 26 mph over limit; reckless driving; failure to signal; fleeing or evading police, first-degree (motor vehicle); wanton endangerment, first-degree (police officer); wanton endangerment, first-degree; resisting arrest; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc.; criminal mischief, first-degree; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; carrying a concealed weapon; menacing; and receiving stolen property (firearm).
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery, and charges related to the robbery are pending.
He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
