Loretto man suffers severe injuries in New Hope Road motorcycle crash

Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 — A Loretto man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after the Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle he was operating left New Hope Road, struck a fence, and came to rest in a creek.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Joshua Greathouse, 24, of Loretto, was traveling south on New Hope Road at excessive speed when he lost control of his motorcycle. He ran off the right side of the road, hitting a wooden plank fence before coming to rest in a creek.

Greathouse was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS before he was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment of severe multiple injuries. New Hope Road was closed to traffic for about an hour while first-responders investigated the crash.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Nelson County EMS and the New Hope Fire Department.
