Driver suffers injuries in Monday afternoon crash near Heaven Hill Distillery

Tuesday, April 9, 2019 — A Bardstown man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Loretto Road near the Heaven Hill Distillery.

At about 3:50 p.m. Monday afternoon, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a single-vehicle crash near Heaven Hill Distillery with possible entrapment of the driver.

Deputy Josh Greenwell responded and when he arrived on the scene, he found a green 2005 Chevrolet Malibu overturned in a ditch. Greenwell’s investigation determined that the car had been traveling north on Loretto Road when it left the road, hit a rock ditch line, and overturned.

Greenwell found the driver, Wallis Gaddis of Bardstown, unresponsive in the vehicle. The injured man had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Nelson County Fire Department. He was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS and then transported to a medical helicopter. He was flown from the scene to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment of mulitiple injuries.
