Thursday, May 30, 2019 — A Boston area man was arrested on assault-related charges following a police investigation of a domestic incident that happened Wednesday night at a home on Nat Rogers Road.

GEORGE WILLIAM VITTITOE

George William Vittitoe, 69, of Boston, was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening, and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, at about 11:47 p.m Wednesday, deputies responded to a home on Nat Rogers Road for an assault. When officers arrived, they found the female victim on the back porch screaming in pain.

While awaiting the arrival of the Nelson County EMS squad, the victim told officers about the assault. Police say Vittitoe had been drinking with the victim and their son when an argument began. Vittitoe was asked to leave the home, which he did. He allegedly returned with a single barrel shotgun. A struggle began between the victim and Vittitoe, and the victim successfully disarmed Vittitoe.

Vittitoe was at the home with officers arrived at the home. He was questioned at the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office before he was arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

The victim was treated by Nelson County EMS.

Deputy Chris Conway is investigating the incident.
