Obituary: Connie Hardin Allen, 68, Springfield

Connie Hardin Allen, 68, of Grundy Avenue, Springfield, died at 3:22 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was born in Louisville on March 31, 1951, to John Sanford and Rose Faye Smith Hardin. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, and a 1969 graduate of Washington County High School. During her working career she was employed by Hardin’s Jewelry, Hubbard’s Restaurant, Wheaton Plastic, Owen-Illinois and as a cashier at Kroger’s.

Preceding her in death was her father, John Sanford Hardin; her stepfather, Howard “Midget” Yankey; one sister, Lois Boyd; her maternal grandparents, Mary Elizabeth and Andrew Roy Smith; and her paternal grandparents, Mary Frances and Everett Hardin.

Survivors include her husband, John Thomas Allen II; one daughter, Donna Faye Milburn (Jim); two sons, Bradley Wayne Devine (Gail) of Woodstock, Vt., and Josh Thomas Allen of Jeffersonville, Ind.; her mother, Faye Yankey of Springfield; one sister, Sandy Spalding (Mark “Zippo”) of Springfield; three brothers, Steve Hardin (Donna) of Springfield, Danny Hardin of Springfield and Donnie Howard Yankey (Janice) of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Yankey, the church pastor, officiating. Burial is be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019, at the church.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Edmund Roberson and Billy Landers. Casket bearers will be Blake Milburn, Dylon Milburn, Jeremiah Milburn, Preston Campbell, Andrew Rutherford and Jaydon Allen.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
