Sunday, June 16, 2019, 12:05 p.m. — The victim who died early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on the Bluegrass Parkway has been identified as Neal R. Bowers, 73, of Upton.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, Bowers was driving his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westbound on the parkway when his vehicle left the road and entered the median before returning to the westbound lanes. Bowers apparently overcorrected, and his truck re-entered the median and overturned, coming to rest facing west in the eastbound lanes at the 17-1/2 mile marker. During the crash, Bowers was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Deputy Reece Riley of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
