Two women indicted for exploiting more than $30,000 from elderly man

Thursday, June 20, 2019 — Two women were indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury for their role in allegedly taking money from an elderly adult.

After a lengthy investigation by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Adult Protective Services about the care an elderly male adult was receiving, Billie Jayne Price, 60, of Bardstown, and Ashley Blanford, 31, of Bloomfield were both indicted for allegedly knowingly exploiting an adult over $300 and complicity same, and theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and complicity the same.

Both charges are Class C felonies, punishable by a maximum of 5 to 10 years in prison if convicted, along with a fine of $1,000 to a maximum of $10,000.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, police determined that the elderly victim had been exploited for more than $30,000.

Price was additionally charged with alleged false statements to obtain prescription drugs between 2017 and April 2019. The charge is a Class D felony, punishable by 12 months to 5 years in prison and a fine of at least $1,000 if convicted.

Sheriff’s office Detective Brandon Bryan investigated the case.
