Obituary: Virginia Corrine Monroe, 94, Taylorsville

Virginia Corrine Monroe, 94, of Taylorsville, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at her residence. She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Spencer County to the late Ed and Margaret Stevens Ingram. She was a retired employee of General Electric, was a farmer and homemaker, and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Monroe; one son, Kenneth Edward Monroe; five brothers and sisters; one grandchild, Tommie Monroe; and one great-grandchild, Mikie Monroe.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Ann (Edgar) Case of Bloomfield; two sons, Michael (Cathy) Monroe and Billy (Bonnie) Monroe, both of Taylorsville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Sister Judy Wilson officiating. Burial is in the Valley Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at the funeral home.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
