Smith Bernard Fogle, 63, of Holy Cross, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Feb. 28, 1962. He formerly worked as a groundskeeper for the Abbey of Gethsemani. He enjoyed horse racing and he was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and the Chicago Bears. He also liked to visit and hike at Gethsemani.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Barbara Ann Smith Fogle; and an infant brother, Joseph Marion Fogle.
Survivors include five sisters, Yvonne Ballard (Alan) of Forsyth, Ga., Sheila Beaven (Dick) of Henderson, Colette Hill (Bobby) of Springfield, Madeline Thompson (Gomer) of Saint Francis and Leigh Ann Fogle of Holy Cross; four brothers, Alan Fogle of Edmonton, DeWayne Fogle (Debra) of Eva, Ala., Brad Fogle (Donna) of Holy Cross and Bart Fogle of Loretto; many nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Regina and Robbie Lyvers and Tucker and Lucas Lyvers.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiating. Burial is in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at the funeral home.
