Obituary: Elizabeth ‘Carol’ McGuire, 77, Boston

Elizabeth “Carol” McGuire, 77, of Boston, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was born Sunday, June 20, 1948, in Louisville to Thomas “Tom” and Anna Mae Phillips.

She was a native of Lebanon Junction and passionately devoted to her work as a beautician for 53 years. She was also a faithful member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Lebanon Junction.

She was surrounded by the love she so abundantly gave. She was a proud mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy came from her family. Her strong Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” A. McGuire; and her parents, Tom and Anna Mae Phillips.

She is survived by three daughters, Laura Holt (Scott) of Chaplin, and Rebekah McGuire Dye (Donald) and Gretchen Boone (Jason), both of Boston; one son, John McGuire (Samantha) of Lebanon Junction;
seven grandchildren, Paige Cissell (Cole), Zachary (Annabelle) Holt, Stone (Sawyer) Boone, Ashton (Mattie) McGuire, and Vivian Dye; two great-grandchildren, Clayton Cissell and Annalee Cissell; and a host of other family members, cousins, and dear friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is noon Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne Jenkins and the Rev. Adam Carrico officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.

Following the service, a celebration of life will be held at Tom McGuire’s barn at 340 N Hurricane Hills in Boston.

The Trowbridge Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction has been entrusted with the arrangements.
