Delores Jean Drury Terrell, 74, of Cox’s Creek, died peacefully Sunday, May 4, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, courage and kindness.
She was born in Franklin County Feb. 9, 1951. She was the daughter of Alma Jean Drury of Lawrenceburg and the late James Russell Drury.
She was proud graduate of Western High School in Anderson County. She was the valedictorian of her class, a reflection of the intelligence and dedication that would carry her throughout her life. She was married for 55 years to her beloved husband, David Terrell.
She was a respected professional, co-owning and operating Tax Service in Bardstown with her business partner and dear friend, Glenda Kennedy. As an enrolled agent with the IRS, she served her community with integrity and expertise. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her family, friends, and the many clients who became like family over the years.
She was a member of Nelson Christian Church. She was a woman of deep faith. She lived out her Christian values every day. She was also incredibly talented. She was an accomplished pianist who played in the Bloomfield Living Christmas Tree for many years. As part of her ministry to others, she crocheted well over 100 beautiful baby hats and blankets for babies born at various facilities and organizations. She also enjoyed creating stained glass, gardening, camping, fishing and traveling. In her travels she visited 70 national parks, with Glacier National Park being her favorite.
Her life was a blessing, her courage admirable, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain with us always.
She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Terrell Johnson (Dean) of Cox’s Creek and Jill Terrell of Louisville; one sister, Janet Hupp (Ronnie) of Lexington; one brother, Greg Drury (Brenda) of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren Shelby Allen (Brendon) of Louisville, Evan Cass Allen of Bardstown, Rachael Johnston (Shane) of Shelbyville and Carly George (Cody) of Guston; two great-grandchildren, Barrett George and Patton George, both of Guston; and many other family and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.
Visitation is 9:30 to noon Monday, May 12, 2025, at Nelson Christian Church with a ceremony officiated by Bro. Mark Jones at noon. Burial is private at Highview Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Commission Encounter, a cause close to her heart.
