Joshua Wayne Phillips, 43, of Cox’s Creek, died Friday, May 2, 2025, at U of L Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1981, in Gwinnett County, Ga. He worked for KFC. He enjoyed hunting, swimming, and video games. He was Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David Edison Phillips Sr. and Norma Ann Kennedy Phillips; his maternal grandparents, Joseph David Suiter and Elsie Ellen Raypol Suiter; and two stepfathers, David L. “Doodle” Trent and Thomas Wayne Lyvers.
He is survived by one son, Elijah Austin Phillips; his mother, Barbara Jo “Jody” (Art) Trent of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Michael Joseph Phillips of Terre Haute, Ind., and Jason L. (Trish) Phillips of Springfield; one half-sister, Deborah Ann Adams; one half-brother, David Edison Phillips III; his companion, Lisa Marie Romano; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral is 4 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Goodlett officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at the funeral home.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
